Granola
Makes approximately 1kg
This is great with milk or natural yoghurt in the morning.
450g Oats
50g Sunflower seeds
50g Pumpkin seeds
60g mixed nuts, chopped
55g Butter/ Clover/ Olive oil spread e.g Bertolli
1.5tbs Honey
200-300g dried fruit
- Pre heat the oven to 175°C/ Gas 3
- Mix the oats, seeds and chopped nuts in a large mixing bowl
- Melt the butter and stir in the honey
- Add the butter and honey to the oat mixture
- Stir really well to make sure its evenly combined
- Spread the muesli out in a large roasting tray and bake in the oven for 30mins or until golden brown. The mixture will have to be stirred every 10-15mins so it browns evenly
- Leave to cool in the oven tray
- Once cooled, add the dried fruit. Store in an airtight container
TIPS: Serve with fat free natural yoghurt and mixed berries
Make sure the mix is left to cool in the tray or it may go soggy
You can use a variety of dried fruit e.g. raisins, chopped apricots, dates, figs etc
This keeps well in an airtight container for up to a month
